Description: Here is an exceptional American Studio movement tiger maple lidded dresser box with enamel tile inlays on the top. This beauty dates to the 1970s and is very well made in a nicely striped tiger maple. The inlaid tiles on the lid are hammered copper plates that were then enameled and are in two-tones as shown. The lid is tight and extremely well fitted. This box looks like it was never really used. It is not signed, but when we got it there were two stickers inside that said "signed c. shepherd" (see photo) that look like they came off the bottom. We have been unable to find any information about a craft, studio or woodworking artist with that name. Nevertheless, this is a super high quality object that would grace any collection of American Studio woodworker objects. We have not seen another like this, but it easily competes in construction, design and artistry with other artists, such as Annemarie Davidson or Robert McKeown.
