Description: Here is another classic early and very well documented design by Carl Auböck II for a wine bottle holder and server. It is also a design that has been copied by many others. This appears to be an early example based on the patina on the brass and the cane wrapping. There are several different renditions of wine bottle holders designed by Auböck II, but this seems to be the most prevalent and certainly the most knocked off. This example is signed with the correct early impressed “Made in Austria” and “Auböck” marks on the base. Signed examples of this model are very hard to find because impressing the marks on the narrow brass was a challenge. The cane is also in excellent condition for its age. This is pictured in the Kois book with a full page color photograph on page 112. The last photo is of another holder we previously sold showing how it holds the wine bottle. The wine is NOT for sale.
