Description: Here is an extremely rare pair of Hagenauer wood elephants with brass tusks, that have a modernist flair and goofy eyes.  We have seen only one other pair ever come to market, which achieved a result of about $1,700.  A sitting example can be found on the official Hagenauer website, which dates these objects to the 1960s. Most likely designed by Karl Hagenauer.  Each is marked on the bottom of the base with the correct impressed “Handmade” “Hagenauer Wien” “Made in Austria” and Cypher marks as shown. Each also has the remnants of an original round price tag or other label on the bottom, as shown.
