Description: Here is a medium sized table top sculpture in the triangle format by Vasa Velizr Mihich (Vasa). This example is signed Vasa and dated 1998. This piece has a large swath of green but the sides and bottom have purple, orange, red, pink and blue depending on the angle it is viewed from. As light refracts through this work it takes on many color combinations. It never gets dull to look at.

Vasa is an American artist based in Los Angeles, California. He was born in Yugoslavia and moved to the United States in 1960. An academically trained painter he was also a professor at the University of California in its Department of Design and Media Arts. He taught theories of color to understand interdependence and interaction of color and form, color and quantity, color and placement, and after-image. He is best known for making laminated acrylic sculptures that reflect and refract light.

Vasa’s work has been exhibited in art galleries in the United States, Japan, and Italy and in the permanent collections of important public museums such as the Hirschhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Denver Art Museum, the Phillips Collection, the Hammer Museum, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the San Diego Museum of Art, the Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art and many others.

Condition: Very good. No chips, breaks or losses to the acrylic. There is one edge that has a small section that feels a tad rough to the touch in one spot, but it does not appear to be damage and cannot be seen, and only felt by running your finger down the edge. All the points are sharp. Some light but noticeable surface scratching that are normal for his vintage works. But the work was displayed or stored on one flat side so that is where that is located. Please consult the photos.
