Description: Here is an another Aldo Londi for Bitossi lidded box in his most famous Blue Rimini color glaze, with a striped design to the lid that also has a very subtle green glaze used. This box was imported to and retailed in the United States by Raymor and retains its original Raymor sticker as shown with the BIT initials for Bitossi manufacture. It also has an impressed in the ceramic “Italy” mark and a registration or model number in black as shown. This stripe lid design is much more commonly found than some of the other Londi Rimini Blue designs, such as the Clover or Circles, thus the lower price. But still a terrific design object and hard to find with an intact label.

Aldo Londi was a painter, sculptor and ceramicist. He started his career with Cav. G. Bitossi & Figli in 1946 serving as the artistic director from 1946 until 1976 and then staying on for the remainder of his life as a major design contributor. He experimented extensively throughout his life with various glaze techniques and styles and some of his forms and glazes have become iconic Italian modern design classics from the midcentury period
