Description: Here is a beautiful and rare large mahogany serving tray with rattan or cane wrapped handles. These type of Danish trays, including every other one we have seen retailed by Illums Bolighus, were almost always made in teak wood. However, this is much higher quality object using beautifully grained mahogany. It retains its original labels and has an branded mark as shown. Despite our efforts to review a number of period Illums Bolighus trade catalogs, we have been unable to identify who the designer is. As a retailer Illums Bolighus often sold objects designed by well known designers, but had the manufacturer omit the their names on them. Illums Bolighus trade catalogs do identify some designer names, but only a fraction of the objects are so identified. This is a high quality object that would enhance any midcentury modern home aesthetic.
